The Appearance on the Road to Emmaus
A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 24, 11 – 35:
Now that very day two of them were going to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus, and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred. And it happened that while they conversing and debating, Jesus himself drew near and walked with them, but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him. He asked them, “What are you discussing as you walk along?” They stopped, looking downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply, “Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know of the things that have taken place there in these days?” And he replied to them, “What sort of things?” They said to him, “The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel, and besides all this, it is now the third day since this took place. Some women from our group, however, have astounded us; they were at the tomb early in the morning, and did not find the body; they came back and reported that they had indeed seen a vision of angels who announced that he was alive.
Then some of those with us went to the tomb and found things just as the women had described, but him they did not see. And Jesus said to them, “Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe all that the prophets spoke! Was it not necessary that the Messiah should suffer these things and enter into his glory?”
Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them what referred to him in all the scriptures. As they approached the village to which they were going, he gave the impression that he was going on farther. But they urged him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. And it happened that, wile he was with them at table, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them. With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he vanished from their sight. Then they said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?”
So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem where they found gathered together the eleven and those with them who were saying, “The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to Simon!” Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
On Easter Sunday night I went to the window and looked outside and saw the big moon. However, what struck me was the huge cross I saw with the moon in the centre. The cross covered almost half of the sky. It remain there for hours. Every time I went to the window I could see the cross. It was right at the back of the chapel and I was facing East. This was a great happening and it struck me as it was the Great Feast of Easter. Around midnight the cross disappeared. I asked Jesus what was the meaning of all that had happened? He told me that the place of the chapel is a holy place and I am the living Jesus who lives there. Many great things will happen there.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“Rejoice, rejoice My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters at the great event of My Resurrection. In the reading above you have the great story of My appearance to two men on their way to Emmaus, which is about seven miles from Jerusalem. I joined them on the road but they did not recognize Me. The two were talking about My passion and death on the cross and the story of the women who went to the tomb that morning and they did not find My body. These two men said to Me these words, “But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel.” They were hoping which means that now they did not believe in Me as the Messiah, the Savior. I spoke to these two about what the prophets said about Me as it is written in the Bible. Then when we arrived in Emmaus, they invited Me to go in with them. At table I took break and changed it into the Eucharist and gave them to eat. Then they recognized Me and I disappeared. They now had great faith in Me and went back to Jerusalem to tell the Apostles what had happened to them.
My dear friends, believe in My Resurrection for truly I came out of the tomb alive and now I will never die again. I have done My work asked for by My Father. So come My friends and follow Me and I will bring you home with Me in heaven one day. Pray that a great era will soon begin. I love you all.”
