The Samaritan Woman
A reading from the Gospel of Saint John 4, 4 – 15:
Jesus had to pass through Samaria. So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob’s well was there. Jesus, tired from his journey, sat down there at the well. It was about noon.
A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” His disciples had gone into the town to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him, “How can you, a Jew, ask me a Samaritan woman, for a drink?” (For Jews use nothing in common with Samaritans.) Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God and who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” (The woman) said to him, “Sir, you do not even have a bucket and the cistern is deep, where then can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this cistern and drank from it himself with his children and his flock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”
I see that my heating oil tank is again empty and I do not have the money to pay for the heating oil. It will cost again $400.00. So if someone can help me to get this oil before the furnace stops, I would be very happy indeed. Last time the furnace stopped and for three days I lived in a very cold house and I got a cold and it is not completely gone yet. May the Lord bless those persons who will help me.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who will take part in Holy Mass this Sunday. You will receive a very special grace. In the reading above there is the story of the Samaritan woman who came to the well to draw water and I was sitting there at the well. I asked her for a drink but at the beginning she objected saying that Jews never do anything in common with Samaritan. I told her that if she asked Me, I would give her living water. She did not know how I could get water from the well as it was deep. But the living water would not come from the well. Whoever drinks this living water will never be thirsty again and so she asked for this water so that she will not have to come back here to the well. Of course she did not know what the living water meant. I was speaking to her about the Holy Spirit. He is the living water who can fill you up in a marvelous way.
I call you My brothers and sisters to ask for this living water (the Holy Spirit) every day that you will have all the strength you need to follow Me and you will be enlightened to understand what I have taught you. You can receive the Holy Spirit at any time. He is there to help you and to increase your faith and your love for Me. I bless you all.”
