The Cleansing of Ten Lepers
A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 17, 11 – 19:
As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria and Galilee. As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!” And when he saw them, he said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice, and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply, “Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?” Then he said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”
Today three people came to see me. The three of them were sick. The man has cancer of the lungs. His wife suffers from Alzheimer and the other lady has difficulty in hearing. I prayed on all the three of them. Afterwards, we went to eat together and then they returned home. I prayed that they will be healed.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I know you believe My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters that I am a great healer. When I was on earth I healed many, many people from all kinds of illnesses. Today you have just read that I healed ten lepers. This is a horrible sickness and thank God there is no leprosy in the northern countries but there are many people with that sickness in Africa and in other parts of the world. These ten lepers called upon Me to have pity on them. I sent them to show themselves to a priest and they left. On the way they noticed that they were all healed. Only one returned to thank Me and this man was a Samaritan and he was not a Jew. You would think that all those who were healed would return to give thanks but only one came although all the others were healed.
This is what I see often. People would ask for a healing or a gift that they need but when they receive what they wanted they do not come back to give thanks. This is not right. Make sure you give thanks to God the Father for all the wonderful things He does for you. In this way He will continue to give you many gifts in the future. I love you all and I bless you.”
Father Melvin
Hi Fr.Melvin, I just finished reading about the cleansing of the 10 lepers.
I prayed St.Philomena to visit you.I beleive that she will visit you soon.
You are to become friends with her like St.Jean Marie-Vianney ( cure d’Ars ).
Your devotions to her are very essential. She is the key to getting the project about the Shrine of Our Lady of PEI of the ground so to speak.
Whatever time it takes, is God’s time for all of us who beleive that Our Lady
desires a Shrine to be built. I promise St.Philomena that an alter for her will be
built in the Shrine. Also one for St.Cure d’Ars.That a relic of her’s be put in the
main Alter. I will ask many people that I know to pray St.Philomena and St.Cure d’Ars
I am just so enthuse about the whole thing that I now pray her many times a day
and even during the night. If your health permits it.Do spend some time in prayer
in front of the Blessed Sacrament in your chaple.I will do what I can in between my
work as a husband and father.
