The Parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus
A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 16, 19 – 31:
Jesus said, “There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and find linen and dined sumptuously each day. And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table. Dogs even used to come and lick his sores. When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Sent Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.’ Abraham replied, ‘My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented. Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from one side to yours, or from your side to ours.’ He said, ‘Then I beg you, father, send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.’ But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’ He said, ‘Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ Then Abraham said, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.’
I did not receive yet the money to build the shrine to Our Blessed Mother and the two monasteries for the Contemplative Brothers and Sisters of Jesus. I still have to pay a sum of money and I do not have the money to pay that. It is $2,000 and I hope after all that the money will come soon. If anyone can help me please send the money via Paypal at the website of Our Blessed Mother. The website is: www.ourladyofpei.com Go and donate by following what is written there. I am praying that the money will come in before Friday, March 13. Please send the money this evening or tomorrow.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:
“I call you to take care of the poor My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who have come to know Me and you know how much I love the poor. I gave a parable about a rich man and a poor man. The rich man had expensive clothes to wear and dined with plenty of food everyday. However, the poor man, Lazarus, sat at the door of the rich man but he never got any food at all although he was starved. In time both men died. One went to heaven and this one is Lazarus and one went to hell and that one is the rich man. Now Lazarus in heaven enjoyed great happiness but the rich man suffered terribly because of the fire of hell. One day the rich man saw Abraham with Lazarus and he asked that Lazarus would come over to him with a wet finger to cool his tongue. However, this was no possible because there were an immense chasm between the two places. The rich man even asked that Lazarus be sent to earth to his brothers to warn them about the torment that they will suffer if they do not repent of their sins. Abraham told him that it was not possible for Lazarus to return to earth. His brothers have Moses and the prophets so they better listen to them.
My friends, how important it is to love our neighbors and to help the poor. We are all called to see that the poor have clothes to wear and food to eat. Those who do that will be blessed indeed and they will have their sins forgiven and one day they will be in heaven. Come, My dear brothers and sisters, and follow Me. I bless you all.”
