Life in the Christian Community
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 4, 32 – 37:
The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. With great power the Apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. There was no needy person among them, for those who owned property or houses would sell them, bring the proceeds of the sale, and put them at the feet of the Apostles, and they were distributed to each according to need.
Thus Joseph, also named by the Apostles, Barnabas (which is translated “son of encouragement”), a Levite, a Cypriot by birth, sold a piece of property that he owned, then brought the money and put it at the feet of the Apostles.
I wish to remind you all again that I will have a healing service at the chapel of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island, Palmer Road, on Friday evening, July 4th, at 7:00 p.m.
Everyone is welcomed.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“You are called My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters to be members of a Christian Community. At the beginning of the Church in Jerusalem, the Apostles created such a community and all gathered together to pray, to eat and to take part in the Eucharist Celebration. Each member gave what they had to the community and so no one ever went hungry or had no place to sleep. The community took care of all the poor people. The Apostles worked with great power to bear witness to My resurrection. Some like Barnabas sold a piece of property and then brought the money to the Apostles to be used as they saw fit. So all the believers were of one heart and one mind. This is truly a Christian Community.
I call you all to be active to have such a community in your midst. Where you have such a community you can be sure that I am there present in your midst. I bless you all and I love you with all My heart.”
Father Melvin
P.S. We had a warm and sunny day on Monday, June 30th. It was about 30 degrees Celsius on the island today. It seems it will continue for most of the week. I did not send a message yesterday because I went away and I only came back late.
