Herod’s Opinion of Jesus
A reading from the Gospel of Saint Matthew 14, 1 – 12:
At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the reputation of Jesus and said to his servants, “This man is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why mighty powers are at work in him.”
Now Herod had arrested John, bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, the wife of his brother Philip, for John had said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.” Although he wanted to kill him, he feared the people, for they regarded him as a prophet. But at a birthday celebration for Herod, the daughter of Herodias performed a dance before the guests and delighted Herod so much that he swore to give her whatever she might ask him. Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.” The king was distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests who were present, he ordered that it be given, and he had John beheaded in the prison. His head was brought in on a platter and given to the girl, who took it to her mother. His disciples came and took away the corpse and buried him, and they went and told Jesus.
I have been working to prepare the Newsletter and to send it out. By tomorrow all the letters will be ready to mail out. A good number who were receiving the Newsletter did not pay the money ($12 for Canadians and $15:00 for US residents). If you have not paid for 2014, you cannot receive the message of Our Lady given to me on March 25th.
Below you will find the message of Our Blessed Mother given to Father Melvin. She spoke to him these words, “I bless you My son Melvin and all My sons and daughters who have a devotion to Me and to My Son Jesus. King Herod had heard about many of the miracles My Son Jesus had performed in various parts of Israel in His time. Herod though did not accept Him as the Messiah or Savior of the world but he said that Jesus was John the Baptist, who has risen from the dead.
It was Herod who had John the Baptist killed by having him beheaded. At Herod’s birthday, the daughter of Herodias, the wife of Herod’s brother Philip, came and danced to celebrate his birthday. Herod offered her everything she wished and he would give it to her. Her mother told her to ask for the head of John the Baptist because Heriodias hated him for what he said about her. The King agreed and had the holy John the Baptist killed. John the Baptist had none done anything wrong but just told Heriodias what was the Jewish law.
My Son had a great love for His cousin John the Baptist. He worked hard to help My Son Jesus to begin His public life. John the Baptist had been at the Jordan River baptizing all the people who came to him and repented of their sins. He told the people to prepare for the Messiah was very near. When My Son Jesus came to him and asked him to baptize Him, at first John the Baptist refused but My Son insisted that he should be baptized by John and at the end he accepted and baptized Him. John did tell all the people present that My Son was the Messiah whom the people were waiting for. The Heavenly Father also spoke at the baptism and the Holy Spirit came upon My Son.It was a great day for Jesus, My Son, and John the Baptist had a great role to play.
What happened at My Son’s baptism, is a great proof that He is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. I call upon you all to accept Him as the Son of God who came into the world to redeem you and to open heaven for you. Come and follow Him and you will be with Him one day in heaven. I love you all.”
