The Temptation of Jesus

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Matthew 4, 1 – 11:

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was hungry. The tempter approached and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.” He said in reply, “It is written:
‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.'”
Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you, and with their hands they will support you, less you dash your foot against a stone.'”
Jesus answered him, “Again, it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.” Then the devil took him up to a very height mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the earth in their magnificence, and he said to him, “All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and worship me.” At this Jesus said to him, “Get away, Satan! It is written: ‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.'”
Then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and ministered to him.

The big snowstorm hit us last night and it snowed and there was high winds all day on Sunday. There is hardly any snow around the house here except at the door because it is all gone into the woods. The wind is going down now and it is just snowing a little bit now. No cars pass today on the roads here and I suppose very few went to Mass today.
I hope we will see the sun tomorrow.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Lent is approaching and soon you will join Me in the desert for forty days, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who live the season of Lent every day.
I was in the desert for all these days and I had nothing to eat but I spent My time with My Heavenly Father in order to know all that He wanted from Me. He showed Me clearly what I will have to do during My public life.
At the end of these forty days, the devil came to tempt Me three times. At first he asked me to change the stones into bread as he knew that I was hungry. I told him that one does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from God. I cannot do anything asked of Me by the devil who is the world’s greatest sinner.
Then he took Me up to the peak of the temple in Jerusalem and asked Me to thrown myself down and the angels will take care of Me. I said that I would not do such a thing as one is not allowed to put God to the test. We are to do what the Father tells us.
At the end I was taken to the top of a high mountain and shown all the kingdoms of the earth. The devil told me that I would get all those kingdoms if I would prostrate Myself before him and adore him. I chased the devil away as God cannot adore the devil. He is My enemy.
Then the angels came and ministered to Me.
By these temptations of the devil, I desired to show you all how you should act when the devil tempts you. Never agree to what the devil asks of you for he wants you to commit sin and to defile your Heavenly Father. I call you all to follow Me and do what I ask of you. Then you will remain my great friends. I bless you all.”
