The Power of Prayer

Dear Friends,

The Power of Prayer

A reading from the Letter of Saint James 5, 13 – 20:

Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will raised him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful. Elijah was a human being like us, yet he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain upon the land. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the earth produced its fruit.
My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you should stray from the truth and someone bring him back, he should know that whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

It was cloudy all day yesterday but it was mild. Some of the snow that had fallen the day before melted but not all of it. Today we are to have lots of rain and the snow should all go away once more.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Believe in the power of prayer My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters and be people of prayer. If there is a person sick among you, call the priest (the presbyter) so he can come and pray with the sick person and anoint that person with holy oil. He can be healed physical or at least spiritual by removing all the sins and opening heaven to this persons. This is one of the sacraments I gave My Church and all the sick should receive it. It is a very powerful sacrament.
If any person should be in sin, he or she should go to the priest who will hear his or her confession and absolve the person of all his or her sins. This sacrament too is very powerful. All should go to confession at least once a month.
If there should be someone among you who does not believe or who has left the faith, it is very important to pray for that person and when the occasions demands it, you should speak to this person about Me and how important it is to return and follow Me. If this person is converted then the one who helped that person will be blessed indeed. Come My friends and pray every day and especially pray for sinners and those who do not pray or go to Church. I bless you all.”
Father Melvin

P.S. May the Lord bless you all.
