Patience and Oaths

Dear Friends,

Patience and Oaths

A reading from the Letter of Saint James 5, 7 – 12:

Be patient, therefore, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You too must be patient. Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not complain about one another, that you may not be judged. Behold, the Judge is standing before the gates. Take as an example of hardship and patience, brothers and sisters, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because “the Lord is compassionate and merciful.”
But above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath, but let your “Yes” mean “Yes” and your “No” mean “No,” that you may not incur condemnation.

I went to Summerside, Prince Edward Island, on Tuesday afternoon and while I was there it began to snow. So I stay there for the night and that is why there was no message yesterday. I came back yesterday afternoon in the snow.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord, the Son of God, given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“I call you to be patient My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who desire to imitate Me. Patience is a great virtue, which works together with humility. Know that I am patient with you all and how often have I waited for your answer. If you sin, I patiently call on you to repent and sometimes it takes a long time, but at the end you do follow My call and repent and I absolve your sins. Those who are full of pride, do not have patience. Instead of patience, they come up with anger and they may tell the one who offended them many horrible words. At the end it is the one who did not have patience that sins the most. I call you to pray for the person who has hurt you asking Me to give that person the graces he or she needs to repent. I am always ready to do so.
I call on you not to swear by any oath whatsoever. It is sinful to swear like that. Simply give your answer whether it is “yes” or “no” and that is enough. I bless you all My brothers and sisters and I fill you everyday with My love, peace and joy.”
