The Coming of the Spirit
Dear Friends,
Please read the passage below from the Acts of the Apostles (2:1-13):
When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.” They were all astounded and bewildered, and said to one another, “What does this mean?” But others said, scoffing, “They have had too much new wine.”
Today is the great Feast of Pentecost, the day of the Holy Spirit. Let us celebrate this day with great solemnity. It is the birth of the Church and the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit for the first time in the history of the world. It was the tenth day after Jesus ascended into heaven on the Ascension. Let us thank the Lord for this great happening.
(Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Redeemer given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,)
“May the blessings of the Holy Spirit fill you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters living in every part of the world. It is Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles. I had told the Apostles to wait and pray in Jerusalem for the coming of the Holy Spirit. They were all united in the Upper Room the place where I celebrated the Holy Eucharist during the Last Supper. The Holy Spirit came upon them and filled them all with great joy and all spoke in various tongues about the glory of God. Many people gathered outside when they heard the wind and Peter went out to speak to them and you know that about 3,000 people were baptized that day.
My dear friends, open your hearts today to receive again the Holy Spirit. He will come with His power to fill you and give you great joy. Your faith will be strengthened and your love for Me will be much stronger. The Holy Spirit comes to give you new life and fill you with His light. Follow Him and He will lead you to the path that leads you to your heavenly home. He is the sanctifier who will make you holy. Thank the Holy Spirit for what He has done for you and ask for His help every day. I bless you all.”
