Jesus and Peter
A reading from the Gospel of Saint John 21, 15 – 19:
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my sheep.” He said to him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.” Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted, but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and somebody else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, “Follow me.”
We had a nice sunny day on Thursday and my sister Esther and I went fishing trout leaving at 7;30 a.m. We caught some nice trout but they were not biting a lot. We got back home before 12:00 noon. Today is Friday so I will eat some of the trout I caught.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who love to listen to My words. After breakfast by the side of the Sea of Galilee, I talked to Saint Peter. I asked him the same question three times. This question is: “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter answered always by saying “yes.” In doing this I appointed Saint Peter the head of My Church and he became the leader of all the members of the Church.
There is another reason why I asked him that question three times and Peter became aware of it when I asked him the third time. The reason why I asked him that question three times is because he had denied Me three times and by answering that question, I was taking away the three sins he had committed. After that he was completely free of his sins.
My dear friends, when you sin against the Father and against Me, you need to repent of your sins and to promise Me that you will not sin again. It is in the sacrament of penance that I forgive your sins and they are gone completely. I love you all.”
