Peter’s Confession about Jesus
A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 9, 18 – 22:
Once when Jesus was praying in solitude, and the disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” They said in reply, “John the Baptist, others, Elijah, still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’ ” Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter said in reply, “The Messiah of God.” He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.
Jesus said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
Today Saturday we are having another big snowstorm. It started early this morning and about 20 cm (about a foot) of snow has fallen. The roads are packed with snow and not one car went by today. I hope it will stop this evening so they can clean the roads so the people can go to church. This is the second big snowstorm in a week. I pray that we will have better weather in the future.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“I ask you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters this question, “Who do you say that I am?” There are some today that say that I am just a human being like everybody else. They do not accept that I am risen from the dead and that the Apostles have seen Me after My resurrection. Many do not accept what I have taught and do not follow Me.
I want all of you to believe in Me as Saint Peter did. He said before all the Apostles when I asked them who I was that I am the Messiah of God. This means that I am the Savior who has come from God to save you all. This act of faith of Saint Peter is the reason that I appointed him the head of My Church. He had great faith.
After Peter’s act of faith, I told them about what will happen to Me. I said that I will suffer greatly and be rejected by the leaders of the Jews and then I would be killed but on the third day I will be raised from the dead. This is My Passion and Death and it was difficult for the Apostles to accept this now that they believed that I was the Messiah. Indeed I had come to offer Myself in sacrifice for the salvation of the people of the world. My sacrifice I offered it on the cross where I suffered horribly and after three hours on the cross I died and was buried. On Sunday, three days afterwards, I came back to life and I stayed with the Apostles for forty days in order to strengthen their faith and to prepare them to receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
Come My dear friends and believe all what has happened to Me. I am now alive and I am there to help you. Walk with Me every day and you will be blessed for you will be with Me in heaven one day. I bless you all.”
