The Question of the Resurrection

Dear Friends,

On that day Sadducees approached Jesus, saying that there is no resurrection. They put this question to him, saying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up descendants for his brother.’ Now there were seven brothers among us. The first married and died and, having no descendants, left his wife to his brother. The same happened with the second and the third, through all seven. Finally the woman died. Now at the resurrection, of the seven, whose wife will she be? For they all had been married to her.” Jesus said to them in reply, “You are misled because you do not know the scriptures or the power of God. At the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven. And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at his teaching. (Passage from the Gospel of St. Matthew 22:23-33)

Yesterday a deacon was ordained a priest here in Prince Edward Island for the Diocese of Charlottetown. He is the second young man to be ordained a priest this summer. Every year we have ordinations here, which is why the Diocese of this island has enough priests to staff the parishes. One of the reasons why we have ordinations every year is because there is Eucharistic Adoration in many of the parishes. Some have perpetual adoration while others have it one day a week.

Please pray for my sister Esther and her husband Leo who will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary today. I will celebrate the Anniversary Mass this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“As I greet you, My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters throughout the world, I wish to let you know that you and all the people who lived on earth will rise from the dead on the last day. The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection. They thought that when one dies that is the end. They were very mistaken because the Father has arranged that all the dead will be joined to their resurrected body as I return to earth to judge the living and the dead. When you rise from the dead, your body will be completely renewed to such an extent that you will never be sick again, you will never feel hunger or thirst, and you will never die again. Those who followed Me on earth will enter heaven and live in glory and great happiness. You will be able to see Our Heavenly Father, I, your Messiah and the Son of God, and the Holy Spirit. You will be with Our Blessed Mother and with all the angels and saints. There you will live in great holiness forever. You were made to live forever. Come follow Me and you will be happy.”
