Raising of the Widow’s Son

A reading from the Gospel of Saint Luke 7, 11 – 17:

Soon afterward Jesus journeyed to a city call Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd accompanied him. As he drew near to the gate of the city, a man who had died was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. A large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, he was moved with pity for her and said to her, “Do not weep.” He stepped forward and touched the coffin; at this the bearers halted, and he said, “Young man, I tell you, arise!” The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. Fear seized them all, and they glorified God, exclaiming, “A great prophet has arisen in our midst,” and “God has visited his people.” This report about him spread through the whole of Judea and in all the surrounding region.

The largest gathering of people since the beginning of the world happened today Sunday in the Philippines. Pope Francis celebrated Holy Mass in a park in Manila and between six and seven million people gathered for the celebration. Never was such a large number of people gathered together before. Today the Catholics of the Philippines celebrated the Feast of the Santo Nino, the Holy Child. This shows the faith of these people in this Asian country. I pray that many of them will become missionaries and go to all the countries of Asia and bring the good News of the Lord to all these people. Let us pray for this intention.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,

“Have faith in Me My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who know Me and have read what I did when I lived in the world. In the reading today, the Bible explains what I did in the town of Nain. When I arrived there one day, the people of the town were coming out carrying a dead man to burry him. He was the only son of his mother and she was a widow. I was moved with pity to see that this woman had lost her only son who could help her as she grew older. I decided to help her. I went to her and told her to stop crying and then I touched the coffin and the bearers stopped. Then I said these words, “Young man, I tell you, arise.” The dead man came to life, sat up and began to speak. I gave him to his mother. This great miracle caused fear to all the people and then they began to praise God. I did many of these miracles when I was on earth to show that I am indeed the Son of God and to show My love for the people who suffered.
Come My friends and believe in Me for I am your Savior. I came on earth to show you the way of salvation and I died for you to redeem you and open heaven for you. Come now and follow Me and I will give you all the graces you need and the strength to say ‘no’ to the evil one and never to be afraid to suffer at times by following Me. I bless you all.”
