Teaching about Almsgiving
A reading from the Gospel of Saint Matthew 6, 1 – 4:
“Take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them, otherwise, you will have no recompense from your heavenly Father. When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win the praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right is doing, so that your almsgiving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.”
I wish to thank all those who sent me donations during the last few weeks. This has been a great help indeed. May the Lord bless you all and may He repay you one hundred percent more.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words, “I bless you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who love to give alms to the elderly and the poor. This is the beautiful way to show your love for those who are suffering. There are more and more people today who have nothing to eat and who do not have a place to sleep. It is you who are their brothers and sisters who must take care of them. If they die from starvation or if they freeze to death, you will have to pay for that. Always be ready to help these poor people.
When I was living in Israel and I traveled all over the country with the Apostles, often we had nothing to eat and at times we had to sleep outside under a tree. However, there were some who came to help us by giving us food to eat and a place to sleep. These people I thanked with all My heart. Remember when you help a poor person, you are helping Me. I identify with every poor person who suffers. So if you love Me, you will help all the poor that you find. I bless you all.”
