Sayings on Discipleship
Dear Friends,
A reading from St. Luke’s Gospel (14:25-35):
Great crowds were traveling with [Jesus], and he turned and addressed them, “If any one comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. Which of you wishing to construct a tower does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if there is enough for its completion? Otherwise, after laying the foundation and finding himself unable to finish the work the onlookers should laugh at him and say, ‘This one began to build but did not have the resources to finish.’ Or what king marching into battle would not first sit down and decide whether with ten thousand troops he can successfully oppose another king advancing upon him with twenty thousand troops? But if not, while he is still far away, he will send a delegation to ask for peace terms. In the same way, everyone of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.
“Salt is good, but if salt itself loses its taste, with what can its flavor be restored? It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear.”

We are in the week of Christian Unity and we should prayer for the unity of all Christians into one Church. That is what Jesus wants.
Below you will find the message of Our Lord, the Son of God, given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words,
“Be My disciple My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters living on the face of the earth. In order to be My disciple you must prefer Me above every other human being. If someone should tell you something that is contrary to what I taught you, then you are to reject what that person told you and to accept wholeheartedly what I have taught you. This is the week of Christian Unity and on Friday you will celebrate the Feast of Unity. I want you all to pray that every Christian listens to My voice. I want you all united in one church, My Church. You know that I established only one Church under the leadership of St. Peter. All the Apostles belonged to that same Church and they accepted Peter as their head. Peter is still living among you today. He is the Bishop of Rome known as the Pope. All Christians should accept him as their leader and they should follow him. Those who follow the Pope, follow Me and you are truly My disciple. I bless you all.”
