The Anointing in Bethany

Dear friends,
A reading from St. Mark’s Gospel (14:3-9):

When [Jesus] was in Bethany reclining at table in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of perfumed oil, costly genuine spikenard. She broke the alabaster jar and poured it on his head. There were some who were indignant. “Why has there been this waste of perfumed oil? It could have been sold for more than three hundred days’ wages and the money given to the poor.” They were infuriated with her. Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you make trouble for her? She has done a good thing for me. The poor you will always have with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them, but you will not always have me. She has done what she could. She has anticipated anointing my body for burial. Amen, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed to the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.”

I wish to thank all those who sent gifts to help me with heating oil this winter. I will still need some more money but I am so happy that in the near future I will not freeze. I am praying for all of you that the Lord bless you and your whole family and that He gives you all good health this winter. You are my great friends.

Below you will find the message of Our Lord and Savior given to Father Melvin. Jesus spoke to him these words:
“I embrace you My brother Melvin and all My brothers and sisters who believe in Me and show their love to Me every day. Before My death in Jerusalem, a great friend of mine, Mary Magdalene, came one evening while I was in Bethany and anointed My head with precious oil. It was the Holy Spirit who pushed her to do this. It was the anointing for My burial. When they took My body off the cross, there was no time to wash My body or to anoint it. Mary Magdalene had done it already. You do not have to anoint Me but what I ask you to do is this: accept Me as your Savior who loves you and who gave His life on the cross for you. I offered the Father the perfect sacrifice so that you could be pardoned of your sins and heaven could be opened for you. I want each person on earth to be My friend and to walk with Me. I love you all.”
